Invented in the Soviet Union. The History of Inventive Thinking from 1917 to 1991

Tim Skorenko

About the book: Inventive thinking in the Soviet Union developed in a peculiar way. It was encouraged in selected areas - space, military, the fields of science - and practically ignored in everyday life. In other words, we made major breakthroughs in a rocket program and basic research, but seriously lagged behind in all things related to everyday life, from vacuum cleaners to cars. This book has two tasks. The first is to talk about the inventions made by our compatriots in the Soviet period, as objectively as possible, without diminishing or exaggerating their merits; the second is to show invention in the USSR in a context that explains its special path. And yes, of course, to dispel the numerous myths associated with the history of invention.
