Everyday Life in the Beseiged Leningrad

Sergey Yarov

The book gives evidence of how people tried to survive in the besieged Leningrad, how they suffered and what price they had to pay to save their loved ones. The author Sergey Yarov was a Doctor of Historical Science and his book is based on hundreds of documents, many of them previously unpublished. He creates a picture of what everyday life in Leningrad under siege was like. This picture is very different from what we had known before. The cruelty that the author describes may shock readers, but it is the only way we can understand what it meant to stay human, to help others and to share a piece of bread in this difficult time.
