Mysterious Pages. Fascinating Cryptography.
Ivan Efishov
Interesting etudes about all sorts of codes in various spheres of our life: in linguistics, literature, mathematics, astronomy, politics, music, biology, and physics.
The reader is offered a book made up of cryptographic etudes, based on little games. The author practiced these games in a classroom with students, the main aim being to teach the students simple ciphers through entertaining stories and in an interesting way, and this was tried both on materials on history as well as literature. Students of cryptography usually study complex sections of higher algebra and other mathematical sciences, and these materials exclude any form of entertainment; solid formulas and abstractions: nothing romantic and no secret codes. The author chose such stories of encryption which do not require much knowledge of mathematics or cryptography to be solved (the book contains only one super easy mathematical formula). The material of the book will be available also for older pupils who are curious about funny stories with codes and cryptograms.
Cryptography is indirectly present even in children’s games. Remember yourself that you probably also had a secret language which you used in your games which adults did not understand. This book may arouse your child’s interest in secret pages of literature, science and history, as well as help train attention, observation and logical thinking.
