The Apology of Mathematics

This book is a collection of articles written by Vladimir Uspensky, a Russian mathematician and linguist, in the course of several years. The author shows the place of mathematics in modern culture, and tries to explain some principal concepts and problems of “the queen of all sciences” to non-mathematician readers.
