Mars Exploration Rover, Accordion, MRI: The History of Armenian Inventive Conception

Tim Skorenko

The new book by Tim Skorenko, a specialist in the history of invention, renowned populariser of science, finalist for the Enlightener Award, winner of the Belyaev Award and a number of other awards, author of the bestsellers Invented in Russia and Invented in the USSR discusses the Armenian inventive conception.
More than 180 illustrations of inventions and inventors. Most of the information is being published for the first time. The book contains unique facts and biographies.
By the will of fate, the author came to Armenia and realised that, despite the well-known joke, Armenians may not lead in everything, yet their contribution to the various areas of human life is remarkable. Skorenko, using his typical responsible approach to information, decided to find out what the Armenians had actually invented and to talk about it in an easy and entertaining way.
Who invented the accordion? Who constructed the first Mars rover? Who developed the coffee machine? Who actually came up with the legendary green ink for dollar bills, patented the hand hair dryer, or, say, bred the orchid that became the symbol of Singapore? What is myth and what is pure truth? We will talk about inventors of Armenian origin who, due to historical events, are scattered across the globe, from the Soviet Armenia to the United States, France, Austria, and Singapore.
